About the Curriculum
Digital On-Ramps is a series of online safety and basics lessons designed for late elementary school. It is the on-ramp to our middle school digital literacy program. This research-based initiative aligns with national educational standards, including CASEL Social-Emotional Competencies, ISTE Tech Standards, Common Core ELA Standards, and is CIPA complianct. It equips students to navigate the complexities of online life effectively.
The program provides educators with comprehensive resources, including videos, lesson plans, and student activities, enabling them to deliver 38 lessons with ease. Featuring entertaining videos starring an owl mascot learning about the internet, the curriculum combines offline activities with digital literacy instruction. It begins by exploring core values like kindness, responsibility, and self-discipline, applying them both in real life and online contexts. Subsequent units cover essential topics such as internet history, device care, reputation management, misinformation, privacy, cyberbullying, and more.
Designed by teachers for teachers

By subscribing, you'll get entertaining videos featuring our intrepid owl mascot who is just learning to use the Internet too! Whether you show these videos in the classroom or not, you can use our lesson plans to deliver these lessons in the classroom (or at home!). Each includes an engaging hands-on activity plus student activity worksheets. Lessons sometimes include homework.

Digital Literacy + SEL go hand-in-hand

In a meta-analysis of 213 school-based SEL (Social Emotional Learning) programs, participants demonstrated significantly improved social and emotional skills, attitudes, and behavior, as well as an 11-percentile-point gain in academic performance. The social-emotional competencies—Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision-Making—are in high demand online too! These are the skills students desperately need in order to avoid the pitfalls of online life and to know how to engage, safely and wisely, with the flood of information (and people!) they will encounter online.
