Kids Streaming: What's New?

Sometimes it can be hard to find new content that is appropriate for your kids. So, I thought I’d help and highlight a few new titles coming to one of the many (too many) streaming services. Here are some new TV shows and movies premiering in August across Apple TV+, Disney+, Netflix, and Paramount+.

Luck

Premiere date: August 5th

Where you can watch: Apple TV

Luck

Look forward to this one! It’s made by many of the animators and producers of some of your favorite Pixar movies.

“The story of Sam Greenfield, the unluckiest person in the world. Suddenly finding herself in the never-before-seen Land of Luck, she must unite with the magical creatures there to turn her luck around.”

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Premiere date: August 5th

Where you can watch: Netflix

Rise of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

This is the movie based on the hit Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series on Netflix.

“The Turtles are put to the test when a mysterious stranger named Casey Jones arrives from the future to warn the mutant brothers of an impending invasion of the most dangerous alien force in the galaxy -- the Krang."

I am Groot

Premiere date: August 10th

Where you can watch: Disney+

I am Groot

It’s everyone’s favorite tree… alien… thing… the point is – he’s cute! And he’s back!

“The mischievous toddler Baby Groot learns how to grow up amongst the trouble in the stars along with the help of his friends and family in the ragtag superhero team the Guardians of the Galaxy.”

13: THE MUSICAL

Premiere date: August 12th

Where you can watch: Netflix

For some of your older kids in the house, this is a coming-of-age musical. It tackles some very relevant stuff and worth watching either with or before your kids to prepare for the conversations that might stem from it.

“After moving from New York City to Indiana, a 12-year-old navigates his parents' divorce, his impending bar mitzvah and his new school's social circles.”

Secret Headquarters

Premiere date: August 12th

Where you can watch: Disney+

Secret Headquarters

This movie feels like it could be a sleeper hit for your pre-teen and younger teen audience.

“A kid discovers the secret headquarters of a powerful superhero hidden beneath his home and must defend it with his group of friends when villains attack.”

Surf Side Girls

Premiere date: August 19th

Where you can watch: Apple TV

Surfside Girls

Based on the hit graphic novel and as heart-warming as anything else on this list. It seems to have a Nancy Drew vibe – if she grew up in California.

“Best friends Sam and Jade strive to solve supernatural mysteries in their sleepy California beach town.”

There are some of the exciting kids content coming to your living room in August. Remember to always do your research before showing your kids.
